The safari Club after conducting many
Safaris and Mobile camps in crowded and tourist places like
Jaisalmer, Bikaner etc. has finally chosen on excellent and a
permanent camp site - Osian. Which makes it possible for even a
single traveler to experience a deluxe Camel Safari. This ancient
village in the merciless Thar desert is legendary for its
mesmerizing 6th century temples , sand-dunes and
diversity of Rajasthani culture and tradition. Besides the
comfortable Camel Safari one also gets to see proud local tribes -
Bishnois, Bhils, Shepherd, Potters, Weavers etc, in their natural
surroundings. Once at the
Camp-Nestled in the dunes your host Reggie Singh grandson of Maharaj
Ratan Singh a royal of Jodhpur will invite you for an evening of
splendor with cocktails, local folk entertainment and semi formal
candle lit dinner.
OSIAN
This ancient Thar Desert village was a great trading centre between
8th and 12th century. It boasts of 6th-8th century temples (Jain,
Surya, Sachiya Mata) which rival the hoysala temple of Karnataka and
Sun temple of Konark in Orissa.
Camel Safari Itinerary (Soft
Adventure)
1. Day/Night
Safari :
If guests reach Osian by early afternoon : On arrival
have lunch after which take a short break. At around 3.30 p.m. start
Safari over dunes for oasis village Khetasar (11kms.)/ Enroute one
gets to see some desert wildlife - like the blue bull, Indian
chinkara, foxes etc. We also stop at Bishnoi, potters, weavers etc.
huts along way.
The safari ends at an oasis near the
village from where our four wheel drive jeeps bring you back to
Camel camp Osian.
In the evening at the camp there's
folk entertainment followed by a sit down dinner. After which guests
can either retire to their tents or sit around the fire. There is
also a lodge with coffee table books and a wide variety of western
music. Next morning after breakfast take a short tour of the temples
and carry on to the next destination.
If guests reach Osian by late
afternoon : Then on arrival finish sight seeing of temples by
evening. The Safari will start the following morning and with lunch
either back at the camp or at a village near the Osian.
3 day/ 2 Night Safari
Day-1: Afternoon arrival at village Bikamkor with packed lunch.
Start safari from Bikamor for village dabdi.Night at Dabdi in tents.
Day-2: After breakfast start for Camel Camp Osian enroute
stop for lunch at village Khetsar, Night at camel Camp Osian.
Day-3: Breakfast followed by a tour of the temples in Osian
then proceed to next destination.
4 Day/ 3 Night Safari
Day-1: Afternoon arrival at Lorta or Somrau with packed lunch,
Start safari for camp 1 at Nathrou. Night in tents.
Day-2: After breakfast ride to camp 2 at dabdi,lunch enriute.
Night at Dabdi camp.
Day-3: Resume Safari for the Camel Camp Osian. Enroute stop
for lunch at village khetsar. Night in Osian.
Day-4: After breakfast finish sight seeing of Osain temples.
