Agra

Famous as the 'City of the Taj', Agra is one of the most traveled tourist destinations in the world. Agra is world-famous for its magnificent Taj Mahal, perhaps the finest and the most beautiful historic monument in the world. One of the most fascinating cities of India, Agra has a very rich political and cultural past, which is more than 500 years old. Akbar, one of the greatest emperors of India, made Agra his capital city in 1565 AD and started the construction of the magnificent Agra Fort on the bank of Yamuna River. During his period, Agra emerged as India's most famous center for art & culture, learning and commerce. The trend continued and reached its zenith during the rule of Shah Jehan, another famous king of Mughal dynasty. Shah Jehan was the builder of the great Taj Mahal in Agra. Other architectural masterpieces of Agra include the Agra Fort, the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, and Bulund Darwaza at Fatehpur Sikri (a nearby town from Agra built by Akbar). Travel to Agra to witness the Taj Mahal, the most spectacular monument of the world. Also visit the magnificent Agra Fort and experience the Mughal splendor at its zenith on your Agra Travel with ChariotindiaTravel. An Agra Travel would surely be a fascinating and memorable experience for you.

Taj Mahal: Built as a symbol of love by a romantic Mughal emperor Shah Jehan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz, the Taj Mahal is one of the eight wonders in the world. Renowned for its architectural magnificence and aesthetic beauty, the Taj Mahal is regarded as one of the most spectacular buildings of the world. Built entirely of white marble, it's the greatest masterpiece of Indo-Islamic Architecture, representing the architectural richness of medieval India. It's difficult to describe the stunning beauty of the Taj in words and the monument must be seen to be believed. Visit the fascinating Taj on your Agra Travel and get enchanted by its spectacular architectural beauty.

Agra does not only have the Taj. It has some major landmarks like the Agra Fort, Tomb of Itmad-ud-daulah, the Jama Masjid, Jehangir's Palace, and Rambagh. In addition, visitors can also have a look at the mausoleum of the Mughal Emperor Akbar and his fort city of Fatehpur Sikri.
